A Shikara is a traditional wooden boat native to the picturesque lakes of Kashmir, especially Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake in Srinagar. Elegantly carved and ornately decorated, a Shikara features a pointed prow and a flat-bottomed hull, allowing it to glide effortlessly across calm waters. Typically measuring between 20 to 40 feet in length, it has a cushioned seating area beneath a canopy supported by arched wooden frames, often draped with colorful fabric.
